Residential buildings become more and more sustainble: less energy is wasted by applying optimal insulation while additional energy is produced by installing solar energy collectors and thermal heat pumps.
Greenhouses are predestined for optimal insulation. Combining this advantage with a roof of photovoltaic cells creates a living space being almost indepent from other external energy forms.
Creating quarters of such residential buildings will offer the opportunity to create a sustainable community. Especially, if there are adjacent quarters which will provide the necessary food for the community.
The 'Green Deserts' project could result in a prototype for a new form of a sustainable high-tech community in less developed countries.
